Mentors

MENTORS AT RED CROSS LYNGBY-TAARBÆK

The mentors are volunteers who offer confidential support for the challenges of life – big or small – through conversations and one-to-one support. Have you dropped out of your education, are you struggling to find your way back to the job market, or are you unsure about what your next step should be?

All conversations take place in full confidentiality.

WHAT CAN A VOLUNTEER MENTOR HELP YOU WITH?

  • Finding new ways forward if you have dropped out of education or lost your job
  • Supporting and strengthening beliefs in own abilities
  • Fine-tuning your CV or making a new
  • Finding new communities that appeal to you
  • Providing support for a plan and structure for your further process

HOW OFTEN CAN YOU MEET YOUR MENTOR?

It’s up to you and your mentor. We recommend that you meet approximately every other week. The conversations can take place at the Red Cross House, Kongevejen 192 in Virum, or at another place we decide together. Some of the meetings could also be online.

HOW LONG DOES THE SUPPORT LAST?

If you enter into a programme with a volunteer mentor, the support often lasts between 3–6 months. Sometimes the programmes last for a shorter or longer period. It depends on what you and your mentor agree upon.

Your mentor always takes your wishes and needs as the starting point, and together you will find a set-up for your meetings that is meaningful to both of you.

If you wish to take part in other Red Cross activities, for example in Lyngby-Taarbæk, your mentor will help you find an activity that makes sense to you.

HOW DO I GET A MENTOR?

Write an email to lyngby.al.mentor@rodekors.dk and tell us briefly about your challenges. We will then contact you in order to find the right mentor for you.
